The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is seeking a coach to coordinate the newspaper’s daily and Sunday coverage of the economy.The job requires planning and overseeing the execution of economy-focused enterprise to anchor the AJC’s Sunday business section. Another duty is to work with reporters on executing premium digital and premium print content for the daily newspaper.
This position offers editing and leadership for one of the newspaper’s key topics, the economy. The primary duties include planning the AJC’s Sunday business section, coordinating with the senior editing team and former economy team reporters on daily coverage and serving as a key member of the newspaper’s economy council, which will establish the newspaper’s editorial priorities in covering the economy.
The ideal candidate for this job will have experience working on a traditional business team in an editing capacity.
Job duties
Coach reporters through the execution of economy focused content for premium print and premium digital
Coach reporters and other staffers on how to meet the needs of our audiences across platforms.
Plan the Sunday business section, budgeting stories weeks ahead of time to ensure a steady flow of enterprise to anchor the section.
Serve on the newspaper’s newly formed Economy Council
Serve as a primary contact to the public on business coverage
Assist the senior editors in performance evaluations, scheduling and other leadership tasks.

Qualifications
10 or more years of newsroom experience. Demonstrated leadership ability. Strong business news judgment.
Deep knowledge of audience and demonstrated ability to create content to meet audience needs across platforms
Strong ability to organize, analyze, interpret and disseminate information. Strong communication and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
