Arlington Magazine is seeking writers to cover food, health, shopping, design, the arts, local culture and other topics for both the magazine and website. We are actively seeking freelancers now, so submissions within the next few weeks would be great.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Arlington Magazine explores and celebrates life in Arlington, McLean and Falls Church. Published six times a year, Arlington Magazine brings the editorial and design standards of a national magazine to the community, while covering the lives and lifestyles of local residents. Engaging and informative, the magazine’s coverage focuses on restaurants and food trends, real estate and home design, people, community issues, education, parenting, health and fitness, fashion, events, travel and local history.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SUBMISSION

  • Write a cover letter explaining how you meet the requirements for the job or why you are the right fit for the job
  • Include a one-paragraph summary of your relevant experience, credentials and publication credits
  • Attach your strongest clips or links to published work
  • Be sure to include a resume detailing your writing experience.

COMPENSATION

  •  flat rate of $100-$200 for web stories (although sometimes a bit more if it’s a big roundup or a story that requires a lot of reporting). Print stories are negotiated as a flat fee, but the rate is usually anywhere from $.55 to $.85 per word.
