American City Business Journals seeks product development manager

The product development manager is a key member of a team responsible for the digital product evolution and business performance of www.bizjournals.com and other business journal digital properties for American City Business Journals.

Responsibilities:

Drive and manage product direction and development for core site experiences including the homepage, article page, commerce pages, and advertising features among others.

Conceive of, and advocate for, new products that serve the business.

Drive regular evaluation, updating and revamping of existing product set.

Serve as in-house expert, and adviser to top executives, on sales dynamics, content quality, and audience-growth levers for wide range of digital products.

Define and execute on product roadmap, together with engineering, design, program management and QA.

Define competitive set, and help determine performance targets, for each product.

Draw on data analysis and product testing to inform product direction and feature prioritization.

Work closely with content, revenue, and audience teams to ensure that user and commercial interests are balanced and aligned.

Systematically evaluate and report on product performance; with 360-degree knowledge of company objectives, make recommendations on where – and where not — to expend finite resources.

Track performance against targets, guiding product adjustments as needed to drive success.

Qualifications:

Three to five years of experience at a media company or online business managing product and/or project responsibilities

Ability to understand corporate goals, and how to prioritize product development against those goals

Proven ability to meet and exceed stretch goals

Thorough understanding of web and mobile products, technologies, development processes and business models in complex and highly scalable contexts
