The Dothan Eagle, a 26,000 daily newspaper located in Dothan, Ala., has an opening for an experienced reporter.
Candidate must be able to cover many topics, but main focus will be reporting business news. Candidate must be versatile, be able to analyze and write well, cover beats, work well under deadline and take complicated issues and make the reader understand them.
Must write daily stories and enterprise pieces. We are looking for a strong writer who can write with context and clarity and has a passion for news. Must have initiative, energy, a good work ethic, excellent interviewing skills and be a storyteller. Must be able to also report through our digital platforms, to include videos, blogs, Twitter and Facebook.
We are a BH Media company located in Southeast Alabama, just 80 miles from the sugar white beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. We have sister weekly and daily publications in Marianna, Fla., Enterprise, Ala., Eufaula, Ala., and Auburn, Ala.
This position is ideal for someone who has starred at a weekly or smaller daily and wants to step up to something bigger. This person must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Four-year degree in journalism preferred.
