The Aiken Standard is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Digital Editor to join our team. The Digital Editor will be responsible for overseeing all digital news content, tracking KPIs, monitoring content performance, and ensuring website and social media channels are up-to-date and engaging. The ideal candidate must be a collaborative team player with a passion for digital media, staying current with industry trends and willing to explore new approaches to content distribution. The Digital Editor will collaborate with the Aiken newsroom and other digital staff across the company to achieve the company’s goal of growing digital subscribers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the digital content strategy and ensure alignment with the company’s overall editorial strategy.
- Track KPIs and content performance metrics to optimize and improve content.
- Develop and execute SEO strategies to increase website traffic and search engine ranking.
- Manage and curate content across all social media channels to ensure engagement and growth.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to generate fresh and compelling content ideas. Train staff as needed.
- Monitor and report on digital trends and emerging technologies to stay ahead of the curve.
- Manage website updates and maintenance to ensure optimal user experience.
- Edit, curate and manage newsletters and share those performance metrics with the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Proven experience in digital content creation and management, with a track record of driving growth and engagement.
- Strong knowledge of SEO and website analytics tools.
- Experience managing social media channels for a brand.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Highly collaborative, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms.
- Passion for journalism and staying current with the latest digital trends and technologies.
