Advocate seeks a business reporter in New Orleans

The Advocate, Louisiana’s largest daily newspaper and a growing regional presence, is looking for an experienced business reporter to join its New Orleans newsroom.

The right person will have a demonstrated ability to produce in-depth analysis and enterprise stories, as well as spot news, features and profiles.

Candidates should be able to handle the demands of digital reporting as well as the daily deadlines of print. This is a competitive beat in a great news town where deep sourcing and an ability to break news will be paramount

Compensation: base pay and benefits package (health, dental, life, disability, vision, 401k with company match, vacation, holidays and sick time).

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
