As the Senior Social Media Producer you’ll be managing all social promotion and the website for Advance Media New York’s “This is CNY” (Central New York) brand. You will also curate content, as well as write some original content about the people, attractions and traditions that make Central New York a rich, diverse, and exciting place to live.
We’re looking for someone with knowledge of Central and Upstate New York with a talent for identifying trends and the ability to tell engaging, fun stories about the region and the culture that will generate conversation among readers. The “This is CNY” brand is all about celebrating the area and delivering content that will encourage people to visit or move here.
The ideal candidate for this job is a versatile storyteller who uses a variety of tools to engage readers, including digital media, photos, videos and more.
What you’ll need:
- A minimum of four years of journalism experience with a proven ability to write engaging copy that’s clear and accurate;
- Experience managing social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok LinkedIn and Reddit, and ability to engage a social audience;
- The ability to identify trends and show judgment on what makes for good content;
- The ability to multitask, work independently on deadline and prioritize tasks;
- Solid understanding of the Central New York market;
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills;
- The ability to work a flexible schedule, including travel as needed;
- Ability to shoot and edit photos and video.
The role:
The Senior Social Media Producer will help manage a new brand, “This is CNY,” and will curate content from sister sites Syracuse.com and NYup.com, create original reporting, and manage the brand’s social media accounts and website to showcase all the positive things about the Central New York region.
You’ll be responsible for developing a network of community sources to help keep readers up-to-date on new and interesting things taking place and the people who make those things happen. Some original reporting and aggregation of content will be a part of this position. You will report to the editor who oversees social media, trending news and NYup.com for Advance Media New York.
