Ad Age is seeking an experienced reporter to cover the advertising agency business and help shape our approach and current and future editorial products for the industry.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience covering the business of advertising and will demonstrate knowledge of the industry players, including specialists in creative and media, digital and data, Web3, consultancies and more.

The senior reporter would help direct coverage and set the agenda as the ad world undergoes a massive shift led by new forms of innovation. The focus will be on breaking news, uncovering trends and working with a team to dig out and write feature stories on issues facing the business in areas such as diversity, sustainability and ways shops are looking to maintain a competitive edge. The candidate will be expected to deliver a steady cadence of in-depth articles on the evolution of the agency ecosystem and how digital innovation is impacting the ad world.

The ideal candidate is a team player who possesses the ability to juggle stories while also helping to devise an editorial strategy that embraces fresh thinking, explore new storytelling formats and collaborate across the newsroom.

This position includes working on honorary programs and Ad Age conferences, so experience in public speaking—hosting events, moderating panels and the like—is preferred.

Some travel to industry events is required.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree
● At least five combined years of work in a professional newsroom.
● Excellent news judgment, strong reporting skills and the ability to produce longer-form articles on a regular basis.
● Comfortable with and some background being on stage and on camera.
● The ability to work quickly with minimum supervision.
● An enthusiastic self-starter who is also an ally to others on team.
