The Editor, National Research oversees the strategic side of research and List data collection by ACBJ’s newsrooms. The ideal candidate has a deep background in journalism and a passion for data and visual storytelling. This position will be tasked with elevating the storytelling and journalism of our List products across print and digital products.

Duties
** Elevate the journalism of List and data stories across all platforms, which includes training on data storytelling, sharing best practices/processes and highlighting examples of great work. ** Work with newsrooms to prioritize regular collaboration between editors, designers and researchers/data editors. ** Streamline List topics and data points collected to form a unified national data collection. ** Assist newsrooms with editorial calendar curation in regard to Lists and Special Report/Focus sections. ** Help local editors hire Data Editors and Reporters, in collaboration with Director, Editorial Recruiting and Development. ** Develop unscheduled Lists and data packages that offer critical insight about local newsworthy topics of the moment. ** Take on other duties assigned by Director, Editorial Data & Analysis as needed.
Skills
** Extensive experience working with Excel, Tableau, Infogr.am, databases and other data mining and visualization tools. ** Strategic mindset that understands the balance between local autonomy and national collaboration. ** Understanding of local market newsrooms and how they operate. ** Excellent communication, cross-group collaboration, and planning skills with a strict attention to details and deadlines.
Experience
** Deep background in journalism and a passion for data. ** Three to five years of editing experience in an ACBJ newsroom.
