Down East is looking for writers to submit new ideas and perspectives.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Down East is an identity magazine for Mainers. Its mission is to hold a mirror up to Maine, showcasing its landscapes, traditions, droll and flinty character, and unhurried way of life, as well as to confront its complexities. It also offers insights into the personalities and issues shaping the state.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SUBMISSION

  • Write a short introduction about yourself
  • Include a paragraph highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits
  • Attach links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.

COMPENSATION

  • $400 for My Maine essays  -$.60/word and $.75/word
