1010 WINS and WCBS 880 News seek an experienced and dynamic broadcast journalist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the New York City market and its people.  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for writing and delivering compelling stories, focusing on live breaking news coverage
  • You should have a 24/7 attitude towards news gathering and be able to anchor when needed.
  • You should be proficient in leveraging social media platforms to gather news and engage with the community.
  • Holding officials accountable for their decisions and promoting community engagement are essential aspects of this role.

Required & Preferred:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • At least three years experience in an on-air role at a medium- or large-market news station, including field reporting.
  • Ability to develop and effectively pitch story ideas to enhance coverage and engage the audience.
  • A conversational and engaging delivery style, whether with or without a script, to captivate listeners.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and simplifying complex copy for easier audience comprehension.
  • Comfort using audio editing tools to produce high-quality news segments.
  • Familiarity with using social media platforms to gather news, promote content, and interact with the audience.
  • Understanding of the legal guidelines that govern broadcast media, including ethics and regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, to cover breaking news and evolving stories.
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and proof of insurance (if using own vehicle for work purposes).
