Gerry Spratt, director of content for personal finance site NerdWallet, has left the news organization.
On LinkedIn, Spratt wrote, “My time at NerdWallet was the most amazing stretch of my career. I was instrumental in scaling the strongest, most versatile content team in the industry and driving incredible business results.”
He had been at NerdWallet since December 2014, first as deputy director of content. Spratt co-led a team of about 80 editors and writers. He also coordinated interaction between a business unit and a newsroom intent on maintaining traditional journalistic integrity.
With Spratt’s departure, NerdWallet promoted a new deputy director of content, Hanah Cho. She’ll partner with directors of content Don Kirkpatrick and Marcus Chan to co-lead the team.
Cho has previously led multiple NerdWallet verticals focused on personal finance, first as an assigning editor, than as a senior assigning editor. She originally joined NerdWallet as a writer, covering small business.
Spratt previously was metro editor and deputy sports editor at the San Francisco Chronicle. He also worked at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Santa Barbara News-Press.
