Sonali Basak

Bloomberg global executive editor for finance Caroline Gage and Bloomberg Television global executive editor Julie Alnwick sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

All,

We are delighted to announce that Sonali Basak is moving to a new cross-platform position as a finance reporter within the broadcast group. Ever since joining Bloomberg as an intern in 2014, Sonali has demonstrated ingenuity, drive and serious news-breaking chops. After chronicling the turmoil at AIG, she turned her focus in the last two years to the heart of Wall Street — and has been a driving force helping Bloomberg to dominate everything from the wild ride at Deutsche Bank to the behind-the-scenes negotiations on financing Uber and WeWork.

In her new, hybrid role with broadcast, Sonali will keep doing what she does best — break news — albeit on a much bigger canvas. She’ll keep her current desk with the finance team to ensure that she remains embedded in the group. But she will also have a home studio-side, where she’ll have freedom to leverage finance scoops across platforms while honing her broadcast presence.

Please join us in congratulating Sonali and wishing her the best in her new role.

Caroline and Julie
