Bustle Digital Group, the owner of news and gossip site Gawker, has decided to put off plans for a Gawker reboot “indefinitely”. Gawker shut down in 2016 after a lawsuit involving famous wrestler Hulk Hogan and a sex tape with his friend’s wife. Gawker ended up filing for bankruptcy and was later sold to Univision.
The Gawker staff has been laid off, as well. Bustle Digital Group has been acquiring various publications recently, and stated that it would direct their focus accordingly. Gawker was founded in 2002 by Nick Denton.
