Vice Media is currently in talks to purchase woman-focused publisher Refinery29 according to the Wall Street Journal. If the companies were to merge, it would be the unification of two of the largest venture-based companies in the United States.
Vice has been struggling and recently laid off 10% of its global workforce earlier this year. The CEO of Vice Media, Nancy Dubuc, is currently attempting to diversify the company’s revenue streams. Dubuc joined Vice Media in 2018 in an attempt to increase profitability. Refinery29 has managed to increase revenue streams and shrink losses this year, as well.
