The Chicago Tribune is seeking a digital-first senior content editor to help lead our business, financial and consumer coverage.
We cover the Chicago-area business community and localize national trends and issues, with the goal of covering the companies and topics that have a connection with the daily lives of our readers. Our team also handles public transportation stories and urban affairs/architecture stories. We are digital-first and pay close attention to our readers through metrics.
The successful editor thinks both creatively and critically and is a tested manager. The senior content editor supervises reporters on both breaking news and enterprise stories, working with them from story planning to posting stories online and promoting them on social media. We seek a go-getter who’s a team player, willing to roll up his/her sleeves and pitch in wherever needed, able to multitask and work fast for digital.
We’ve got a good story to tell – chicagotribune.com just surpassed 100,000 digital-only subscribers – and we’re looking to move fast on filling this position.
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of editing experience.
Applicants should send a resume, cover letter and five work samples to Business Editor Mary Ellen Podmolik by emailing newsroomjobs@chicagotribune.com.
