Inc. is looking for a data reporter to tell the stories of entrepreneurs and startups by using data to connect the dots for original reporting and visual storytelling. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a thoughtful, opinionated and articulate team player. Experience in business journalism and an interest in entrepreneurs are a plus.
Responsibilities will include:
— Pitching and writing data-driven stories
— Gathering and analyzing data and trends to help readers understand what it all means for them.
— Collaborating with the Inc. data-science team, editors, designers and developers
— Conceptualizing visual ways of telling and adapting stories
— Helping produce compelling visualizations, both interactive and static
Requirements:
— Deep interest in visual media
— Passion for telling stories with data
— Great writing skills
— News judgment
— Ability to build graphics in online programs, such as Flourish, Highcharts or D3, or a willingness to learn
