Fox Business Network cemented its No. 1 position in business television ratings at the end of the third quarter, reports Mark Joyella of Forbes.com.
Joyella writes, “Just in time to mark its 11th anniversary this month, Fox Business has cemented its position as the dominant business network on television, finishing the third quarter of 2018 in first place by every key metric: across the ‘business day’ hours, ‘market hours,’ and among total daytime viewers. FBN had the top six of seven programs in business television, while one-time leader CNBC fell to its lowest quarterly ratings in four years.
“FBN’s Lou Dobbs held his title as the most-watched host in business television, with Lou Dobbs Tonight finishing the quarter in first place among total viewers (335,000) and among viewers 25-54, the demographic coveted by advertisers (39,000). Dobbs has now been number one for ten straight quarters.
“When Maria Bartiromo‘s Mornings with Maria chalked up a telling win — FBN’s first-ever quarterly win over CNBC’s marquee morning show, Squawk Box, in the second quarter — Bartiromo said it was a turning point. ‘We have great momentum and will continue crushing it.’ She was right. Bartiromo did it again in the third quarter, finishing first with a total audience of 104,000 viewers to CNBC’s 94,000.”
