The Alaska Journal of Commerce based in Anchorage is looking for a reporter to cover statewide business beats, with an emphasis on writing breaking news for our online edition.
Primary beats will include commercial fishing and the state’s new cannabis industry. Experience covering business is preferred but not required. The AJOC is the state’s top business weekly in publication since 1977.
Anchorage is the state’s population center, with about 300,000 people in the metro area out of a total state population of more than 700,000. The city has many great amenities for all activities, and is within driving distance of many more.
The state’s leading industries are oil and gas, fishing, tourism, mining, transportation, telecommunications and health care. The federal government and the military are also large employers in Alaska. Responsibilities include filing for the weekly paper and website as well as posting to social media.
A degree in journalism or extensive experience in the field is required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products and/or photography skills is a plus.
