Alan Robertson, the publisher of the Pittsburgh Business Times, has resigned from his position, effective, April 1, after 27 years.
Patty Tascarella of the Business Times writes, “Robertson joined the Business Times’ parent company Business Journal Publications Co. in 1984 and is the longest-serving publisher in Pittsburgh. He had held various posts and was an editor in Milwaukee immediately prior to coming to southwestern Pennsylvania.
“Robertson is also one of the longest-tenured publishers within Charlotte, N.C.-based American City Business Journals, which has owned the Business Times since 1996 — it launched in 1981 — but he was a rarity, coming from the editorial side of the industry.
“‘I think the biggest thing is, Alan epitomized a standard of integrity and excellence that all of our publishers learned from him,’ said ACBJ CEO Whitney Shaw. ‘I never had to worry about whether we were doing the right things in Pittsburgh because Alan was there.'”
