Crain’s Cleveland Business seeks a reporter to cover the emerging technology sector in Northeast Ohio.
We’re looking for someone who can cover technology and business news, who can identify tech trends and explain complex topics in a compelling way and through data and alternative story forms.
The right candidate should have the ability to write short stories for the web and longer-form analysis for print and online. You need to be able to generate original story ideas, pick up on trends and develop unique story angles.
On this beat, you’ll write about biomedical and information technology companies, startups and tech trends that impact businesses in all industries. Enterprise ideas will always be welcomed, whether on the beat or not.
We are looking for someone who thinks like an entrepreneur to cover this beat. You’ll need reporting and writing experience, a curious mind, and the ability to connect the dots on your beat.
The ideal candidate should:
have a bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, communications, English or related coursework
have at least three years of journalism or writing experience
have the ability to write quickly and clearly
have the ability to analyze news events
know AP style
have knowledge of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn
