Beth Kutscher, the former California bureau chief for Modern Healthcare, has been hired by LinkedIn to cover the industry.
Kutscher writes, “Before I joined LinkedIn as our first healthcare news editor, I was on a traditional journalism path. Over the past decade, I’ve had the chance to cover some of the biggest upheavals in healthcare, from the Medicare Modernization Act to the Affordable Care Act.
“Most recently, as the California bureau chief at Modern Healthcare magazine, I traveled the country meeting with leaders of some of America’s largest hospital groups. I wrote about how hospital mergers are shaking up many cities, toured North America’s first all-digital hospital and heard about the frustrations rural hospitals faced in recruiting doctors.
“During my time at Modern Healthcare, I also learned a lot about data-driven journalism, or how to use numbers to tell a larger story. Last year, for instance, I received a fellowship grant from the Association of Health Care Journalists to explore how state decisions on whether to expand their Medicaid programs to low-income adults were affecting hospital financial results.”
