Chris Tisch, the business editor of the Tampa Bay Times, sent out the following announcement to the staff:
I’m pleased to report that Jeff Harrington has returned to anchor the business department as our local, state, national and global economies move into increasingly uncertain times.
Jeff authoritatively guided readers through the Great Recession and the staggered economic recovery. He now returns at a time when the good times are rolling for some, but income inequality and a shrinking middle class remain serious issues; and more and more grumbling can be heard that the next economic slump isn’t far away.
Jeff, who came to the Times in 1998, is a veteran business reporter with an impressive resume. A Notre Dame graduate, Jeff previously worked at the Cincinnati Enquirer, where he covered the likes of Procter & Gamble. He also worked at The Blade in Toledo, Ohio, and at the City News Bureau of Chicago.
We are excited in business to re-acquire such a first-rate journalist who will make our readers smarter and better-prepared for what’s around the bend.
