Upstate New York paper seeks business reporter

March 30, 2016

Posted by Chris Roush

Experienced business reporter sought by the Watertown Daily Times and its sister papers in Northern New York.

The ideal person for this job will have experience on a business beat at a daily paper, with equal balance between exceptional reporting and compelling writing. The beat, in addition to routine business news, includes the wind-energy industry, a controversial and important topic in NNY; the environmental issues of this region; and agriculture.

Thus, we are seeking someone with varied interests and the ability to immerse him or herself in often highly technical issues. If you can’t do math, don’t apply.

The Times covers four western counties in Northern New York, about half of the sprawling 21st Congressional District. Bounded by Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River/Thousand Islands and the Adirondack Park, our coverage area is an outdoor paradise with four-season sports.

The Times is an Equal Opportunity employer. Salary is more than competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid vacation and sick days, a 401-k retirement plan and life, health and dental insurance.

Applicants should reply to Human Resources director Jeanette Hardy at jhardy@wdt.net with a letter of application, a current resume and clips that will compel us to talk to you. No phone calls, please.
