Jeffrey Goldfarb, U.S. editor of Reuters Breakingviews, sent out the following announcement:
I am pleased to let you all know that Gina Chon will be joining Breakingviews as our Washington columnist.
Gina’s well-rounded coverage experience and worldly perspective make her especially suited to cast a sharp and analytical eye across the U.S. capital to produce agenda-setting commentary about policy matters for our global, financially-minded readers.
She comes to us from the Financial Times, where she has been the enforcement and regulatory correspondent in Washington, most recently focused on white-collar crime and cybersecurity. Before that, Gina was the corporate reporter for Quartz and spent seven years at the Wall Street Journal in New York, Baghdad and Detroit, covering M&A, war and cars. She also has written a book about the Khmer Rouge, trained journalists in Iraq and written from her native Seoul.
Gina is starting by showing off her impeccable timing. She is due to start on Feb. 1, which coincides with the Iowa caucus that marks the official beginning of the U.S. presidential election.
Please help me welcome Gina to the team.
