December 28, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

The Dallas Morning News seeks a reporter with the vision to cut through the complexities of health care, from far-reaching public policy mandates like the Affordable Care Act to cutting-edge innovation taking place in our hospitals and related-biotech industries.

The beat requires a reporter with deep analytical skills and a strong desire to write a compelling mix of consumer, watchdog and people-focused stories that serve readers on multiple platforms in a highly competitive environment. The perfect candidate would grasp the complexities of the Affordable Care Act and how it is affecting public and private hospitals, health care professionals, employers, insurers and individuals rich and poor.

This coverage also includes large hospital groups such as Texas Health Resources, Baylor and Methodist, private health care companies such as Tenet Healthcare, and public institutions such as the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, which attracts millions of research dollars to our region.

Please submit a resume, cover letter describing how you’d approach this important beat and three (3) examples of your best work.
