Ayesha RascoeKevin Krolicki, Washington bureau chief for Reuters, and Kevin Drawbaugh, deputy bureau chief, sent out the following announcement on Friday afternoon:

It’s a pleasure to announce that Ayesha Rascoe has been named White House correspondent, effective January 4.

Ayesha rejoins the main Washington bureau staff after a year-long stint with the Reuters Professional News team where she has been writing about energy and environmental law. During her time at Professional, she frequently volunteered to work shifts at the White House and gained valuable experience. She also produced a memorable Insight piece earlier this year and covered various high-profile environmental stories for the wire.

Previously she was an energy reporter for six years here in the bureau, and a Reuters news apprentice and intern in Washington and in New York. She joined Reuters in 2007 after receiving her BA from Howard University. She has also completed the Law for Journalists seminar at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

Congratulations to Ayesha, and good wishes as she heads for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
