The Information seeks artificial intelligence reporter

October 28, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

The Information is looking for an independent-minded, enterprising reporter to join our team and get to know the greatest AI practitioners, from Andy Rubin to Michael I. Jordan, and figure out what new or under-the-radar technologies are being used inside tech businesses, and for what purpose. Hiring in AI is often a leading indicator of where tech business are going next. (Hint: like the Apple and Uber self-driving cars).

To be sure, it’s necessary to separate fact from fiction in the AI field — we’re not that close to replicating the way our brains work, for instance. But while people today like to laugh at videos of klutzy, humanoid robots that continue to be built for Darpa competitions, that will change in a matter of years.

And ground-breaking work is being done inside companies from Silicon Valley to Boston on everything from speech recognition and computer vision to natural language processing and deep learning. (Those don’t sound sexy, but trust us, they are.) There has never been higher demand for talent in these fields.

Why should you join The Information? We only publish content that’s valuable to our readers; no click-bait, no re-writing press releases when companies announce incremental news. We don’t have ads so our interests are 100% aligned with our subscribers. And guess what? The model is working! And you wouldn’t believe the kind of high-profile readership we have on a daily basis.

We have some of the best tech business reporters and columnists in the world. We constantly break important news and work on big projects like the Future List that get the whole industry talking, and our columnists (here and here) help people make sense of the shifting sands of tech—and what’s actually important. The position comes with a competitive salary and bonus, and full benefits, and it’s based in San Francisco.

Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to jobs@theinformation.com.
