Bloomberg TV Canada will launch on Nov. 16, writes James Bradshaw of The Globe and Mail in Toronto.
Bradshaw writes, “The launch of Bloomberg TV Canada will replace the American-focused Bloomberg Television on many TV packages, mixing about 35 per cent Canadian content with existing programming from the U.S. feed.
“Its debut comes slightly later than expected after minor technical delays, but is expected to intensify competition for business viewers as Canada’s television industry prepares to shift to a ‘pick-and-pay’ environment that will give consumers more flexibility to choose which channels they subscribe to.
“In recent weeks and months, Bloomberg’s Canadian office has also made key hires to begin building its TV roster.
“Pamela Ritchie, a former host with rival network BNN, will anchor The Daily Brief, a one-hour program that will air at 4 p.m. ET, focused on ‘the day’s market action,’ according to a statement from Bloomberg.
“Michael Bancroft, another former BNN staff member who also has experience at U.S. network CNBC, has joined earlier this year as executive producer of Bloomberg TV Canada.”
