WSJ seeks energy reporter in Houston

Redesigned WSJThe Wall Street Journal is seeking an experienced reporter and excellent writer to cover one of the most exciting and important stories on the planet right now: energy.

As oil prices plunge and the world is awash in more crude than it can use, global energy companies face unprecedented challenges. American frackers are reeling from the financial fallout of a glut they helped create.

Workers in Houston are watching their jobs evaporate while drivers from Tacoma to Tampa are smiling every time they top off their tanks. Journal readers are eager for insight, explanation and news on all of this.

The ideal candidate has experience in energy coverage, but we are also open to reporters who have mastered complex beats quickly and written about them with authority.

Familiarity with corporate financial filings and strong analytical skills are required, as the job entails covering the two biggest energy companies in the U.S., Exxon and Chevron. So is the ability to write about an often arcane business in a way that is accessible to general readers.

Finally, we seek a team player who can work with a group of top-notch reporters in Texas and around the globe, across digital and print platforms.

Applications should include a resume, cover letter and up to five published clips.
