Reuters seeks investments correspondent

August 17, 2015

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is seeking a journalist with experience writing about investing to join the markets team in New York.

The position requires an accomplished reporter/writer to cover funds, investors and markets to tease out the money story of the day, be it about investors piling into funds devoted to China, a big increase in short-selling in social media stocks, a tech company insider dumping their stocks, or retail investors rapidly trading in and out of leveraged exchange-traded funds.

The central organizing idea for this position will be to figure out where investors’ money is going, be it small retail investors or large institutions. She or he will write about the exchange traded fund industry – as it creates new products, affects broad market liquidity or offers quick views into new market trends or broad investor moves. The position will involve source building among fund and money managers and institutional investors as well as investment advisers and analysts.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have numeracy and literacy – facility with data and spreadsheets and the ability to spot trends, generate story ideas, write quickly and smoothly and break news. She or he will be knowledgeable about funds and comfortable sliding into new areas of coverage from bonds to foreign exchange to individual stock analysis. The successful candidate will be calm under deadline pressure in a wire service environment and work well in a fast-paced team.

Along with your resume, please include 3 clips, at least one pre-edited draft of a story you’ve written, and 3 strong investing ideas you’d like to write about now.
