The Dallas Morning News seeks an experienced business journalist to lead its digital and print coverage of money and commerce in one of the most dynamic business markets in the nation.

The business editor would lead an experienced, award-winning staff of reporters and editors to take the department to the next level across digital platforms while building on the strong business tradition at the newspaper.

North Texas has a fast-growing economy. It is home to 20 Fortune 500 companies as diverse as Exxon Mobil, AT&T, Kimberly-Clark, J.C. Penney, Texas Instruments and both American Airlines and Southwest Airlines, two of the nations’ top four airlines. It is also home to privately owned giants like Hunt Consolidated and Energy Future Holdings, as well as a vibrant and growing start-up community.

Coverage will focus not only on companies and economic trends but on how Dallas business and the economy affect real people, rich and poor.

Candidates should have strong digital experience, both in fast breaking news and enterprise storytelling. The position will also oversee a print operation that publishes a quality, free-standing business section seven days a week. Applicants should have 10 years’ experience in business journalism.

Candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Mike Wilson, Editor, at mikewilson@dallasnews.com, and to Amber Thigpen, recruiting coordinator, at athigpen@dallasnews.com. Application deadline is Friday, Aug. 28.
