Kevin Noblet has left Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, where he was a managing editor directing coverage of the wealth management business for an audience of financial professionals.
His last day was Friday, June 5.
Noblet joined Dow Jones in 2009. He previously ran business news coverage at The Associated Press, where he worked for 27 years as an editor and reporter, including a decade as a correspondent in Latin America. He is a former Nieman Fellow, a former president of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers and was a visiting professional at Ohio
University’s journalism school.
“You know how companies say ‘he’s leaving to spend more time with family?’ That’s really the case here,” said Noblet in a message to Talking Biz News. “My schoolteacher wife Joan and I plan some extensive travel this summer. We’ve talked about it for years and decided we wanted to do it now, rather than wait until we’re older than we are already.
“I’m retiring in a way, but not really,” added Noblet. “At 62 I’m too young for that. I’d like to strike out in some new direction, maybe into some area of wealth management since I’ve been immersed in coverage of that for the last six years. Stay tuned. I’ve got the summer to breath deeply and think about it.”
