Bloomberg Current, a social discussion platform for business, curated and managed by its users that has been a Bloomberg News beta test, is ending at the end of the month.
Bloomberg Current has allowed members to post, discuss and share content. The site was overseen and managed by the company’s director of social media, Rob Harles, who left earlier this year.
Bloomberg Current’s Twitter account has more than 13,000 followers, but it has not tweeted since July 14.
In a note to members, Bloomberg Current stated:
Although out team gained valuable insights into the marketplace for a platform like Connect, we have decided to suspend further activity as of September 20, 2014.
But the story isn’t over. By redirecting our focus, we’ll continue to explore how Bloomberg can best connect you with peers and create a community dedicated to discovering and discussing business and economic trends — so stay tuned.
The invitation-only site was divided into eight categories — economy, energy, entertainment, finance, government, health care, legal, and technology — to appeal to business readers with specific interests.
A Bloomberg spokesman did not have an immediate comment.
