Jason Gibbs, a 20-year veteran of journalism in New Mexico and Texas, has been appointed as the business editor for the Las Cruces Sun-News.

A story on its website states, “Gibbs, 44, has been with the Sun-News for more than eight years and covered several news beats before becoming the online editor six years ago. He has served as interim business editor since the departure of former business editor Brook Stockberger.

“‘Business in Las Cruces is booming and it is a welcome challenge to return to covering the day-to-day news in our community,’ Gibbs said. ‘I’ve been welcomed by our local business leaders and look forward to covering our growing economy.’

“Gibbs has instituted a new feature where guest columnists from state and local chambers of commerce contribute to the conversation about New Mexico’s economy. He also joins in a radio discussion on business issues at 7:50 a.m. Mondays on KRWG FM radio with Edmundo Resendez.”
