Bloomberg Media has decided to cancel its weekly political talk show, “Political Capital with Al Hunt,” and will lay off 15 television and print employees in its Washington, D.C., bureau, Dylan Byers of Politico reports.

Byers writes, “The shake-up comes amid a restructuring of Bloomberg’s political coverage that will center operations in New York, rather than Washington. In May, the company announced that it would launch a Bloomberg Politics site headed by ‘Game Change’ co-authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. That site will be based in New York and will feature a daily television program.

“The layoffs will primarily hit Washington-based television production staff, as those jobs will move to New York. Several print staff will also be laid off. Staffers will have the option to apply for other jobs at the company. Separately, Bloomberg will eliminate its television positions in Los Angeles and focus its West Coast efforts in San Francsico. It will also move some New York-based production jobs focused on European television to London.

“Hunt will continue to write his weekly column for Bloomberg View, the site’s opinion vertical.”
