The Wall Street Journal is looking for a deputy editor for its Off Duty section
The deputy editor helps manage the editorial workflow for Off Duty, a weekly newspaper section covering food, fashion, travel, design and personal tech. The deputy editor generates ideas; commissions, edits and top-edits stories; and refines display copy.
The deputy handles scheduling and page plans, and liaises with the advertising and online departments, so strong organizational skills are key. The deputy works closely with designers and photo editors to generate art concepts. Candidates must have experience with lifestyle service journalism; solid industry and writer contacts; and excellent editing, writing and story-packaging skills. Must be able to multitask and problem-solve.
The ideal candidate will have special interest in/knowledge of design/decorating and online editorial.
