Texas paper seeks business reporter

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal is seeking a business reporter to join its staff.

Responsible for covering the business community in Lubbock and the region. In addition to daily coverage, the business reporter is responsible for a Sunday business section cover story, a column, and updating a business blog. Coverage also includes keeping readers updated on key business metrics that are available from private and public entities. Must have a willingness to get out and meet the movers, shakers, and up and comers.

EDUCATION: College journalism degree and/or three years daily newspaper writing and/or editing experience required. College degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Must show an ability to observe, discuss and organize facts into a clearly understandable story. Must demonstrate the ability to work quickly and on deadline. Must be able to use a computer to produce a story.

RESOURCEFULNESS: Must be able to formulate story ideas and follow through with investigation. Must be able to juggle phone calls, interviews, meetings, planning and writing despite a schedule that can change day to day and week to week.
