Karen Lee Miller, the business editor of the Reading Eagle in Pennsylvania, retired Tuesday after working 37 years for the newspaper.
Miller joined the paper in May 1977, shortly after graduating from Goucher College. She became the business editor in 2001, and along the way she completed a master’s degree in media management from the University of Missouri.
She has also been teaching journalism at Alvernia University as an adjunct professor.
On Facebook, Miller wrote:
I loved the opportunity to cover business news for Berks County and meet literally thousands of interesting people through the years. It was a wonderful ride.
In an email to Talking Biz News, Miller wrote:
I decided to retire May 6 after 37 years at Reading (Pa.) Eagle newspaper, 13 of which were spent as business editor and assistant news editor business. Loved every minute of the business journalism. A recent health scare with severe migraines, from which I am fully recovering, prompted me to retire and remove one of the stressful situations from my life.
I will return to teaching at Alvernia University in the fall where I teach a variety of communications courses.
