Joe Pompeo of Capital New York reports that Reuters.com homepage editor Kira Bindrim has left the organization to become managing editor at Newsweek.
Pompeo writes, “Only one of five people from the title’s previous incarnation who were offered jobs with the new, IBT Media-owned Newsweek, has accepted an offer to stay on board, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Capital.
“As a result of Newsweek’s separation from its erstwhile sister web site, IAC’s Daily Beast, roughly 20 others from the business and editorial sides of the combined entity were laid off over the past two days.
“Capital has also learned that Newsweek’s covers will be designed by Robert Priest of the veteran design duo Priest + Grace, who worked with Impoco when he was the no. 2 at Conde Nast Portfolio. They also designed the few magazines Impoco created and edited while he was at Reuters.”
