Mengqi Sun

Matt Monks, team leader for U.S. deals at Bloomberg News, sent out the following on Monday:

We’re excited to announce that Mengqi Sun has started on the US deals team as our new activist investing reporter based in New York, leading coverage on shareholder activism, proxy battles and related situations.

Mengqi joins us from The Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones Risk Journal, where she spent almost eight years and led coverage on financial regulations as well as SEC and CFTC enforcement. On that beat, she wrote about sanctions, cryptocurrency compliance and the rise of whistleblowing. She broke news on the largest-ever SEC whistleblower award of $279 million, which went to a tipster on Ericsson’s bribery scandal.

Mengqi grew up in Shanghai and graduated from Tufts University and Columbia Journalism School. She’s a newly minted supporter of New York City Football Club and enjoys walking around the city with her dog, Timber.

Please join us in welcoming her.
