Reuters is looking for a strong journalist to join its finance and markets breaking news team in Europe. The breaking news team is at the heart of our coverage of the financial industry and financial markets. The team handles the daily news file, from snaps to market moves and updates, as well as agenda-setting stories aimed at media customers and a broad readership. This real-time role requires a deep understanding of financial markets and the industry.
About the Role:
As our Europe Breaking News Correspondent, you will:
- Have strong writing skills, thrive in a breaking news environment and be keen on unpacking obscure market dynamics.
- Be part of the markets team, where the main job is to monitor markets and write the flagship Forex and Global Markets daily reports, and also help with other reports on government bonds, stocks or cryptocurrencies. In addition, the person will help with monitoring trades, companies, and policies across the euro zone, with an eye on other regions and broad global developments.
- Be based in London as part of a dedicated team of breaking news reporters and work closely with finance and markets colleagues in the broader team.
- Have a keen eye for detail, a passion for data-backed storytelling and an eye for compelling graphics
- Report to the Europe breaking news editor for the finance and markets team
About You:
To be our Europe Breaking News Correspondent, you will likely have:
- Deep understanding of financial markets, ideally across asset classes
- In particular, a strong interest in currency markets, bonds and cryptocurrencies
- Proven track record in cultivating sources across trading floors, exchanges and funds
- A strong work ethic, team spirit and excellent organization skills
- Excellent writing skills
