Mainebiz, the leading source of business news in Maine, is seeking a detail-oriented, inquisitive mind to fill a full-time reporter role. This staff writer will cover the state’s business industries, writing stories for the print magazine and mainebiz.biz, as well as our daily and weekly newsletters. The position will be 40 hours per week.
Prior experience with business journalism is a plus, but not required. Applicants should already live within driving distance of Portland and have a car. We’re looking for candidates with energy and a willingness to learn and ask questions.
Candidates should have:
A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
Knowledge of reporting on business news
Prior journalism experience
Understanding of social media and website CMS
Familiarity with Maine businesses across a variety of industries
Willingness to work collaboratively with others in the newsroom and help out in areas outside of job description
