Bankrate seeks an investing editor

Red Ventures is looking for an Investing Editor to join the Bankrate team. The editor will work with a high-performing team of staff writers, oversee assignments to freelancers, and collaborate with our editorial and SEO teams to optimize content for search engines. The investing editor should have strong editing skills, as well as excellent project management, communication and content strategy skills. The ability to work well in a virtual team setting on a daily basis is a must.

What You’ll Do:

  • Identify, pitch, assign and edit investing-related stories that rank highly on search and resonate with our consumer audience
  • Help manage day-to-day coverage of Bankrate’s investing and retirement content
  • Work closely with a senior editor and SEO analysts to identify priorities and execute a content plan
  • Stay up to date on news and trends in the financial markets and investment management to drive decisions on emerging content opportunities
  • Update existing portfolio of investing and retirement content (guides, comparisons, explainers, trends, analysis, etc.) for timeliness and accuracy
  • Help manage the publishing process in our content management systems
  • Edit internally and externally produced content for AP Style, brand voice and tone
  • Check story drafts for errors, typos and linking opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry sources
  • Work with the investing editorial and SEO teams to make recurring updates to key transactional pages

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of writing/editing financial content with proven experience covering investing, retirement planning or similar for a related publication
  • Solid research, writing and editorial skills, with the ability to effectively communicate edits to writers
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Experience meeting tight deadlines while working independently to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to edit content based on SEO concepts and best practices
  • Desire to work closely with a fast-paced, highly experienced team in a collaborative environment
  • Solid understanding of AP Style
  • Ability to grasp the voice, style and tone of the Bankrate brand
  • Experience working with content automation tools
  • Holding financial certifications such as a certified financial planner (CFP) or chartered financial analyst (CFA) is a plus.

Compensation: 

  • Cash compensation range: $70,000 – $102,000*
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
