Bloomberg News is seeking a well-sourced, experienced and collaborative reporter to drive coverage of the intersection of money and power in Abu Dhabi, which is one of few cities globally to manage more than $1.5 trillion in sovereign wealth.
Abu Dhabi’s wealth funds, state-backed firms and royal family-linked conglomerates are deploying their wealth to pursue marquee deals, diversify the economy and claim a bigger role on the world stage. That’s coincided with an effort to lure hedge funds and billionaires into the emirate, setting the stage for a race with Dubai and Riyadh to be the most influential Middle Eastern business hub.
We’re looking for someone who can break news on the cash-rich funds and opaque private investment firms, as well as the biggest M&A stories and the influx of global capital into Abu Dhabi. You will also be expected to anchor and contribute well-reported pieces on themes including artificial intelligence, private credit, cryptocurrencies and real estate, bringing to life the most compelling characters driving the city’s evolution as a financial center.
We’ll trust you to:
- Work with reporters, including our senior wealth funds correspondent, to drive coverage of state-backed entities and personalities that are shaping the emirate
- Collaborate with colleagues across deals, energy and government to break news and deliver a global perspective to our audience
- Generate smart enterprise pieces, and make sure the team owns the biggest stories
- Be innovative and think creatively about ways to make our content accessible to a diverse audience of business-savvy readers
- Boost the profile of the team internally and externally as well as expand our contributions to TV, radio, podcasts, magazines, newsletters, the website and social media
You will need to have:
- At least five years of experience as a reporter covering business news
- Strong writing skills, with a particular focus on accuracy, precision and speed
- Knowledge of regional wealth funds, politics, deals and financial markets
- A track record in breaking news and developing sourcing
