Robert Libetti, an executive producer for The Wall Street Journal where he leads video investigations and documentaries, has been named a Nieman Fellow.
He will study the intersection of open-source research, traditional journalism and documentary filmmaking.
Libetti’s team has produced video investigations about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, TikTok’s algorithm, and the war in Ukraine. They have also produced documentaries about Covid-19’s impact on American businesses and the global supply chain crisis, as well as an investigative series about Amazon’s marketplace.
In recent years, his team has earned four Emmy nominations, a Philip Meyer Award for investigative journalism, two SABEW awards, and two Gerald Loeb nominations.
Before becoming the executive producer of news and specials, Libetti was a senior video journalist at the Journal for four years. Prior to joining the Journal, he was a senior video producer for Business Insider, where he helped launch the video department.
