Folks, I wanted to share a quick update on some of the new hiring and rebuilding we’ve been doing around the world.
We have now filled all our open roles in Asia and New York, and are near that in Barcelona. While we will never be 100% fully staffed, we are probably now as close as we can get.
We are also now advertising for a chief news editor for the Americas — someone who can step into Mary’s big shoes, as she moves to a separate, key leadership and operational role in the newsroom. You should see a job posting go out as we look both internally and externally for the new Americas chief.
Mary has been invaluable to the Newswires for the last few years as head of our Americas team, and to me personally in the last six months. She has literally seen it all — over 20 years at Newswires and the WSJ, in NY and abroad. And I’m happy to say that we get to keep and benefit from that experience as she moves into a new role critical to the NY and global newsrooms. More details to come.
We have made, or are in the process of making, a number of promotions in Asia and Europe. Once we have a new person in place leading our Americas team, our global leadership structure will be fully in place to embrace the big opportunities and challenges of 2024.
