David Hernandez, a public safety reporter at the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote on X/Twitter:
“Personal news: I’m signing off on my last day at the Union-Tribune. It’s the paper that shaped me, and I’m so grateful for that. Thank you to everyone who ever helped me tell a story. A new (and exciting) chapter awaits. More to come.”
Hernandez joined the paper in December 2015 as a crime reporter. Later, he transitioned to the role of South County reporter. He has also worked at the El Paso Times.
From January to May 2015, he interned at the Union-Tribune, and from June to August 2015 at the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
Hernandez has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and Spanish from San Diego State University-California State University.
