Newspapers of New England, a family owned group of daily and twice-weekly newspapers, is looking for a versatile copy editor/page designer willing to play a vital role in helping our publications maintain their tradition of excellence both in print and online. The ideal copy editor is capable of doing it all. They edit local and wire stories, they write headlines, they build engaging content-driven pages, they can help manage websites and social media, and they make critical news decisions on deadline.
The perfect candidate will demonstrate solid news judgment, familiarity with AP style and an ability to multitask on deadline. This position will handle news, features and sports pages and stories. Some night and weekend work is required.
This position will work with Newspapers of New England’s New Hampshire properties, which includes the Valley News in West Lebanon, the Concord Monitor in the state capital and the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in Peterborough. This position can be based in New Hampshire, or for the right candidate, it can be fully remote.
