We have an opening for a Managing Editor in Logan, UT. The beautiful Cache Valley is home to Utah State University and a growing and thriving community. This region is full of local and regional activities. The magnificent outdoors are minutes away for hiking, biking, fishing, camping, and exploring. Need a big city fix? Salt Lake City is only 90 minutes away.

The Managing Editor manages the newsroom for our 3-day-a-week print edition of the Herald Journal, the 7-day-a-week online presence at HJNews.com. They also collaborate with and support the editorial operations at our three surrounding weeklies.

The Managing Editor oversees all content initiatives with a primary focus on growing and sustaining digital audiences while continuing to serve loyal print subscribers. A supreme understanding of, and experience with, digital platforms, social media strategy, search engine optimization, and newsletter targeting are essential. The best candidates also will have a collaborative spirit and knowledge of the total operation, including audience/circulation, sales, and production. Performance will be measured by subscriber growth, engagement, and retention as well as the impact our content has on the community – audience reach and public service. Importantly, this top newsroom position requires a rock-solid, fundamental understanding of what is required to deliver journalism of the highest order.
